    West Branch French Creek Conservation Area Trail

    Located in the Warrsburg/Lowville area, this 1.1 mile loop is rated moderate to difficult because it intersects water 4 times there and back and a portion has a narrow log boardwalk.

    Veterans Memorial Park/ Wainer Park Trail

    Length:  1.5 miles (3 there and back)

    The Wainer Park Trail, located in the Veterans Memorial Park in Edinboro, PA, is a 1.5 mile (3.0 there and back), dirt-road-like trail. Washington Township is known for its recreational areas.

    Union City Area School District Trail

    Length: 0.5 miles

    Located on the Union City Area School District’s property, this short 0.5 mile hike takes you through the woods and out behind the school’s. The Let’s Get Outside! website warns that since there was recently a tornado in the area, there may still be some trees down along the trail.

    Pleasant Ridge Park Trail

    Length: 1.5 miles

    ​The Pleasant Ridge Park Trail, located in the Pleasant Ridge Park in Fairview, PA, is comprised of 1.5 miles of a series of smaller trails that makes up the park’s one large trail. The hike begins by the park’s pavilion and goes through the woods and at one point over a very idyllic looking bridge. The different paths may cause some confusion.

    Perry 200 Commemoration Trail

    Length: 3.5 miles

    This walking tour begins by the water at Dobbins Landing or the Bicentennial Tower Station. It is longer than most of the other Let’s Get Outside! Program’s hikes, but it highlights many of Erie’s most prized historical sites and museums. You’ll see the Erie Maritime Museum, the Erie Art Museum, the expERIEnce Children’s Museum, the Erie County Courthouse, the Bayfront Promenade, and more.

    North East Heritage Path

    Length: 1.5 miles (3 miles there and back)

    Beginning at the Lake Shore Railway Museum, this walking tour winds you through downtown, 3 parks, and ends up on Mercyhurst University’s campus. If you started at the museum, you will likely have to walk the 1.5 miles there and back, making this an easy 3-mile stroll through North East.

    McKean Community Recreational Park Trail

    Length: 0.5 mile loop

    Along with picnic pavilions, horseshoe, and volleyball courts, the McKean Community Park also has an easy, 0.5 mile looped trail.

    Lawrence Park Trail

    Length: 1.9 miles

    Lawrence Park was originally built between 1907-1910 by General Electric. This easy, almost 2-mile walking tour begins at the Lawrence Park Community Center/ Lawrence Park Historical Society.

    Harborcreek Community Park Trail

    Length: 1.1 miles one way

    Located by the playground in the Harborcreek Community Park, this trail takes you through 1.1 miles of woods, ending on the other side of the park. While in the area, be sure to check out publicly accessible Shades Beach Park which boasts 7 miles of lakeshore.

    Greenway Trail (Asbury Woods Nature Center)

    Length: 2.2 miles one way

    Approximate mileage from Allegheny College: 35 miles

    Allowed Usage: Hiking, Running, Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, Picnicking

    Trail Surface: Natural Earth, covered with bark chips, or a barrier-free boardwalk by the Asbury Woods Nature Center

    The Greenway Trail, the longest of the trails at Asbury Woods at 2.2 miles (4.4 there and back), extends all the way from the Asbury Woods Nature Center to Brown’s Farm. White blazes on the trees mark the trail’s path.

    Greenfield Township Community Park Trail

    Length: 0.5 miles

    Approximate mileage from Allegheny College: 42 miles

    Type: Walking Tour + Exercise Station Route

    This 0.5-mile route features 3 historical sites and 12 exercise stations with instructional boards. To complete all 12 stations, you must walk the trail twice - making it a 1-mile walk!

    Girard Trail

    Length: 3.5 miles

    Fort LeBoeuf Trail

    Length: 4 miles

    Approximate mileage from Allegheny College: 23 miles

    Type: Walking Tour

    ​

    Check out the Fort LeBoeuf Trail for 4-miles of historical sites. Fort LeBoeuf, built by the French in 1753, was burned down in 1759 in an attempt to keep it away from the English. The English rebuilt it in 1760 only to be burned down again in 1763 during the Pontiac rebellion. This walking trail includes the Waterford Covered Bridge (currently only open to foot traffic), the site of the Philadelphia and Erie Railroad Station, the site of the Park House/Opera House, and more.

    Corry’s Trail of Simple Pleasures
